Bio

Hi!

I am jazz guitarist from Montreal, living in New York. I have received a scholarship to study jazz guitar at Université de Montreal. I graduated last year.

I am a very experienced guitarist. I have a world/jazz band called Bel and Quinn. We were nominated for the JUNOS ( Canadian Grammys) for our first album in 2024. We toured, Canada, Brazil, Senegal and Spain.

I also have a more focused jazz band called the Quinntet. We play in New York City regularly at the Williamsburg Music Center.

My playing has been compared to Grant Green, George Benson and Carlos Santana.

I have been teaching for 15 years. I have been teaching a variety of people from kids to teenagers, to adults to elderly people. I am also able to tech people with attention deficit and people with mental health challenges such as schizophrenia.

I am a very patient and dedicated teacher. I adapt to all of my students and listen to each one of their needs to achieve their music goals.

Teaching Info

Together, we will explore everything about jazz guitar. We will explore improvisation, guitar comping and take inspiration from the jazz greats by learning and transcribing their solos. We will also listen to music together and analyse what we hear. We cannot learn jazz guitar without music theory! I have developed over the years easy ways to understand jazz theory. We will  also work on your ears. You  need to be able to use your ears to play a solo.

We will also explore different  jazz standards and  apply everything we have  learned on them.

Students should have their own guitar for the lessons. The lessons will be online so after each lesson I will send over email everything we learned that day.
