Bio

Hello! My name is Dhruv Jain. I am a drummer, guitarist, bassist, composer, and producer. Mainly, I am a drummer, playing in various bands based in New York and performing around the East Coast. These bands range in style from pop, rock, and punk to avant-garde jazz, electronic, folk, and much more. I pride myself on the ability to learn music quickly, create dynamic shifts, and serving the music. Apart from drums, I also play guitar and bass, write my own music, produce, mix, and engineer for others.

I graduated with a BFa in Drum Performance from The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in May, 2025, and have passed RSL Grade 8 Drums. I also have prior experience as a teachers assistant for after-school Grade 2/3 marimba and drum lessons.

Teaching Info

I have two main principles when it comes to teaching. Firstly, I want to create solid foundational technique and habits for the student that they can keep with them for life. Secondly, and most importantly, I will listen to my student and allow them to engage in music that they are interested in. I will mould to their fascinations and curiosities, because I want them to care about the music the play and to enjoy it. I see no point in forcing them to learn something they don’t want to do.
