Bio

My private composition studio started in Los Angeles six years ago and has continued in New York. I have over a decade of teaching experience. I am a passionate, skilled, and structured teacher. My goals are for students to find their compositional voice, have their compositions performed, and enjoy the process of learning and composing. Bio below.

A graduate of The Juilliard School (MM) and New England Conservatory (BM), Emilia’s award-winning music has been recorded, commissioned, and performed worldwide, including at Lincoln Center, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory, Montclair State University, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Center, and Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany. Described as an “effective” orchestral arranger by The New York Times for her arrangement for the One World Symphony, her work has also been programmed and commissioned by The Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, Grace Church Choir, and she has collaborated with The New York Choral Consortium, among others. Emilia received awards from The American Prize for “The New York Suite” in the Orchestral Division (2023) and for “Three Meditations” in the Charles Ives Award – Instrumental Chamber Division (2025); Sound Espressivo for “Three Meditations” (2023), ASCAP for “Eclipse”, and two awards from New England Conservatory for “String Quartet No. 2” and “Symbiosis”. She was accepted as a composition fellow at Arts Letters and Numbers, Bowdoin International Music Festival, FUBIS, and Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and was supported by the Irene Diamond Fellowship to attend The Juilliard School. Her primary teachers include Samuel Adler, Robert Beaser, Lee Hyla, and Robert Aldridge.

Emilia is a passionate educator with a focus on composition, music theory, and orchestration. She has a private teaching studio in New York, NY and is a mentor to composition students at New England Conservatory. She is also a long distance runner, and human rights activist.
