Justin Bain is a Queens-based trombonist pursuing a Master of Music in Bass Trombone at The Juilliard School. He is the bass trombonist of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota. Justin’s performance experience includes touring the US, Canada, and Japan, performing in venues such as The Town Hall in NYC, the Orlando Walt Disney Theater, the Ottowa National Arts Centre, the Tokyo Cotton Club, Osaka Festival Hall, and the Nagoya Blue Note. He has studied with musicians from the top orchestras across the US, including the Minnesota Orchestra, Dallas Symphony, Washington National Opera, and the American Brass Quintet. During his studies at the University of Minnesota, he was featured as a soloist with the University Trombone Ensemble and attended the Round Top Music Festival in Round Top, TX.
Lessons are tailored to the needs and musical goals of each student. Lessons with intermediate and advanced students incorporate technical and lyrical etudes, material for upcoming auditions, and the preparation of solo material. Students are always welcome to bring their own repertoire to lessons.
Students of Justin Bain improve not only their technical skill on their instrument, but also their musicality and understanding of repertoire they perform. Justin’s students use an array of methods including mouthpiece buzzing, singing, and listening to improve their music-making.
