ABOUT ME:

My name is Ky and I have been playing the violin since I was eight years old. Growing up in Texas I was surrounded by folk and gospel music and fell in love with the fiddle. I played in competitions, improv and bluegrass groups and as I grew older I began applying for scholarships to a yearly summer music intensive in Nashville, Tennessee. There I studied with Julliard trained musicians and performed in a symphony orchestra that brought me to the stages of historic venues such as Carnegie Hall and The Grand Ole Opry.
I attended this summer conservatory for seven consecutive years, busking at the local farmers market to raise funds for travel. At eighteen I joined the Williamson County Symphony Orchestra and began attending private lessons at The University of Texas music department in Austin, Texas and it was there that I started playing violin in local bands and my idea of what music could look like transformed into the music I make today.

20+ years into my relationship with the violin I still look back on those beginning years with so much appreciation for the people around me that provided the tools I needed to pursue something I cared so much about, and today I am deeply passionate about music education and accessibility to creative learning for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Hybrid teaching style based on student’s needs utilizing Suzuki books 1-7 (Violin)

Music production taught using Ableton 12 (Ableton Lite recommended for students)
