Bio
I recently graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Masters in Violin Performance. I am passionate about music education and taught High School Orchestra in the Philadelphia School District before starting my Masters at Carnegie Mellon. I have 10 years of experience teaching private violin lessons.I also love improvising on violin, and enjoy writing my own music. I play violin in an indie/folk band. I am very open to giving improvisation or songwriting lessons as well.
I believe every student has the ability to reach the stars…and their goals! With me as your teacher, I will push you to your full artistic potential.
Teaching Info
Some helpful books are Leopold Auer Graded Course of Violin, Carl Flesch, songs from the Suzuki books. I like to generally use the Galamian Scale Method. If a student needs help with a specific skill, I like to come up with my own creative solutions and exercises to help them. Having a good ear is imperative as a string musician. I implement singing into lessons (singing scales, what they are learning in their piece…). It is important for the student to enjoy the pieces they are working on.
