Bio

Marisa Dolcimascolo currently holds a MM in Flute Performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music, having previously earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Flute Performance and Chinese Studies from Binghamton University.

Her distinguished musical achievements include winning 2nd Prize in the 2025 Charleston International Music Competition Romantic division, as well as performances at esteemed concert venues like the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Paul Shaghoian Memorial Concert Hall. She regularly substitutes with the Protestra Orchestra, NYC Orchestra Project, and performs chamber music in the NYC metropolitan area with the Queens College founded Melli Flute duo.

Teaching Info

My teaching varies depending on the student’s age and level and what their goals are for flute lessons.

For more beginner students, I like to focus on flute fundamentals like technique, tone production, and articulation. I also encourage students to bring music they enjoy and want to learn to keep lessons refreshing and engaging!

My approach with older students and students that are more advanced in their playing is slightly more tailored. I tend to make practice plans and organize lessons into sections based on fundamentals and (etudes, orchestral excerpts, solo repertoire) specific to their goals whether that is for NYSSMA or college auditions.

I am also always open to feedback from the students themselves and can adapt to the learning style that suits each student best!
