Bio
Internationally-acclaimed harmonica player and composer Yotam Ben-Or is “playing at a level that, in my opinion, matches Stevie Wonder himself״ (Bass Musician Magazine). The Israeli-Beligan musician, based in NYC, has performed at prestigious venues and festivals such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Bric JazzFest, Le Duc des Lombards, Festival da Jazz St. Moritz and more. Ben-Or moved to NY in 2014 after receiving a full scholarship to study at The New School and has been mentored by harmonicist Gregoire Maret since his teenage years.
Teaching Info
I’m teaching students on any level who are genuinely interested in deepening into the world of music. My main instrument is harmonica, therefore I can benefit harmonica players the most although I’m more than open to teach other instrumentalists as well, especially those who already know how to play on an intermediate to advanced level.
We’ll work on fundamentals of the instrument (tone and technique), ear training, rhythm, basic theory, and practicing efficiently. For those who are interested we can go deeper into theory and harmony and work on improvisation and composition.
