Bio
Off-Broadway & Netflix-credited composer, NYC music educator with 3+ years of specialized early childhood teaching and pianist. NYU Tisch (MFA) & Tokyo College of Music (BM) grad. Deeply passionate about empowering young learners, she leverages her rich theater background and over 17 years of classical piano training to show children how fun, expressive, and joyful music can be. She excels at meeting children right at their level—creating interactive environments where students are motivated to express themselves freely.
With a strong classical foundation, absolute pitch, and real-world expertise as an Off-Broadway composer, Yuriko brings a highly narrative and flexible approach to her lessons. Whether leading group sessions (such as her work as a music educator at St. Mark’s Church in-the-Bowery) or private lessons for children aged 3 to 10, she uses story-driven music-making, percussion, and spontaneous improvisation to help young students experience music through their ears and bodies first. Her absolute pitch allows her to instantly play any song a child requests by ear on the spot, keeping lessons dynamic, engaging, and fun.
Fully bilingual in English and Japanese, Yuriko acts not as a rigid authority figure, but as an encouraging creative partner. While her core focus is cultivating a lifelong love for music in children, she also welcomes older students, adults, and aspiring performers seeking vocal coaching, audition prep, or songwriting guidance.
